About Our Bar
Our massive bar was purchased by the former Johnny Fry’s restaurant from Chadron, Nebraska, where it eased the worries, quenched the powerful thirsts and supported the weight of many a cowboy for over 117 years. The bar itself was a traveler west. Built in Philadelphia, it braved the long overland journey in covered wagons and arrived in Chadron in 1871, just four years after the state of Nebraska entered the Union. The bar was last used in the establishment of Aengus MacDougal of Chadron. Since the day his bar closed, the cherry wood masterpiece had languished in the hayloft of an old Nebraska barn.
The bar weighs two tons, still sports the original stained glass canopy, and proudly boasts bullet holes here and there, attesting to its colorful history. We are happy to say that this old beauty is back, doing what she does best, serving the thirsty public, and reminding us of the part she played to help build the great American West.
